Department Overview:

The Global Service Centre (GSC) is part of the IT Production division. The GSC provides 24 x 7 x 365 1st line support of the Production environment for Platform, Messaging Database, Storage, Web, Scheduling, Operations and Networks. The Global Service Centre is divided into 3 management streams, Operations Management, Technology Management and Service Management; this provides a streamlined model for "run the bank" and "change the bank" activities and processes.

Main Job Function:
Provide 1st line support for all production Windows servers. Work closely with the regional 2ndline teams and the GSC management to ensure fault resolution and escalations are expedited in a timely manner.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

Trouble shooting issues; Escalation to 2nd line teams and GSC Management; Implementing work requests; Capacity reporting and planning; Regular and ad-hoc
reporting; Performance monitoring and tuning; Scripting; Prioritising workload.

1. These role is 24X7 support
2. These roles require people to work in 12 hour shifts.

Qualification / Education Required:

- College Diploma
- MCSE

Qualification / Education Preferred:
- A University degree
- ITIL Certification

Experience Required:
A minimum of 2 years in providing 1st line Windows Support for Windows 2000/2003 Servers in a large multi site company.

Experience Preferred:

- 4 years in providing 1st line Windows Support for Windows 2000/2003 Servers within an IB environment.

Skills / Aptitude Required:

- Windows 2000\2003 Server
- Cluster Server and associated clustered applications e.g. SQL 2000.
- Sound knowledge of TCP/IP, including AD integrated DNS, DHCP and WINS.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Terminal Server and Citrix Meta frame
- Experience supporting SAN attached servers, preferably with EMC and Net App exposure.
- Experience supporting Tivoli server backups
- Familiar with the Windows Registry and comfortable with making modifications
- Familiar with Windows DFS and comfortable with making modifications
- Excellent knowledge of HP rack-mount and IBM blade hardware range
- Experience of working with MS Virtual Server and VMware ESX Servers will be an advantage.
- Experience with MS Operations Manager (MOM)
- Hands on experience on Incident Management tools such as HP Service Centre and Remedy
- Ability to work in a pressurised investment banking environment and be able to deliver against tight time scales.
- Willingness to work shifts in 24 x 7 environments.
- Flexible approach to working hours and be adaptable to change.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Self motivated, have a positive work ethic and the ability to work under own initiative
- Server migrations (P2V and V2V)
