Financial Analyst – Intern

Satmetrix has an immediate unpaid internship opportunity available in our San Mateo, CA office for a finance, economics or business student to work 20-40 hours per week for the remainder of the summer. As an intern, you will gain valuable, hands on experience and develop the skills necessary to be a productive part of any Finance department. Description:

* Perform variance analyses between departmental budgeted and actual results. Research variances and provide analysis for feedback to Manager, Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) and to Budget Owner(s).
* Reconcile department expense accounts and propose adjustments as needed.
* Prepare monthly variance reports including analysis for review with the Manager, FP&A and Budget Owners.
* Update Variance reports for new formats and organization as needed.
* Assist the Manager, FP&A in the preparation of annual and quarterly updates to the budget and review of departmental budget data.
* Maintain department expense budgets in NetSuite and update as needed.
* Maintain various spreadsheets as needed.
* Perform ad hoc analysis.
* Use various software applications, such as spreadsheets and charts, to assemble, manipulate and/or format data and/or reports.


Requirements:

* College or Business School (minimum of 2 years completed), majoring in accounting, finance, or business.
* Prior work experience using accounting or finance skills.
* Great computer skills (MS Office, especially Excel, experience with accounting systems such as NetSuite, Great Plains, Quicken).
* Quick learner, hard working, great attitude.
